It is true that the semi-illiterate class is growing. Those that skim wikipedia and don’t grasp why that isn’t the same as reading an entire book on the subject get more extensive every year.

yet sales figure for books still remain steady. The real drops have come in purchases made at physical book stores. Many of those Borders stores were poorly financed expansion franchises during rich years, unable to survive a dip in spending couple with loses to the online vendors.

MOre and more poeple are using E-books so there is not need to by books any more when you can by and dowload it online to your e-book

also e-books are much much cheaper then real books, you can even get free e-books, how many books can you buy for free ( at a store with out trading)

Ik geloof de mensen te ongeduldig worden om een goed boek neer te regelen en te lezen. Computers haven' geholpen t. ' snelle scan" is fijn in it' s de plaats, maar teveel onmiddellijke voldoening, teveel elektronisch speelgoed verandert onze cultuur. (op één of andere manier goed, andere niet zo goede manieren). Ik hoop boeken en de boekhandels overleven.

It is hard to imagine. I have been in England for the past couple of weeks and visited bookshops in Lincoln and London.

They seemed to be doing a very good trade ,contary to what people would have us believe.

Daunt Books in London had quite long queues at the checkout.

I guess the Kindle or whatever it is called will really affect book sales for a while, but like any fad it will pass.

And books for younger kids will not pass from view.

Who reads- Anymore ??! WHEN was the last Time you saw Someone reading a Book- in Public ?! People may “text”- all the Time. But They sure don’t sit down -& Read any !!
