So I decided to add a little “inspiration space” into my bookstore where people can basically chill and read stuff, I have to sell them hot beverages!

What kind of coffee machine should I buy for a small bookshop (about 1300 square feet) and I have 4-5 coffee tables sitting around.

I live in a little village in England and I really want to start my own second-hand bookshop. I’m qualified in English Lit and I adore books, and I’ve worked part-time in lots of shops and volunteered in lots of fairs and fundraisers so I know this is right for me. I have hundreds of second-hand books collected. Do you know how I can do this?

Due to the credit crunch I am looking for ways to increase my income. One idea would be to sell books to my clients but I don’t know how to go about doing it.
How does someone start selling new books?
I don’t want to open a bookshop but if I recommend a book to a client it would be good to be able to sell them a copy and make a commission on it.
Thanks, Alison

Hi everyone, I am so excited I think I have finally realised what I want to do with my life. Along with my Swiss partner I would like to open an artisan bakery somewhere where good fresh bakeries are scarce. I am originally from NZ and when moving to Europe I was gob smacked at the quality of bread. My partner is trained as a food technologist and has experience with baked goods. We were thinking something small and independent which would sell food and drink that was easy to consume and maybe also have a 2nd hand book shop incorporated with it. Kind of like a cafe but more bread and pastry based food than frittata and pies.
Any suggestions on cost, how to start up etc would be great!
