Iseult asked:
I’ve looked up several online dictionaries and glossaries on the net but there are always some expressions that are missing from these various glossaries and I would need to find. This time I’d like to know how to say tale spinner or tale weaver in Old English and I can’t find either element of this expression anywhere. Please, don’t refer me to book form dictionaries as I’m not a native speaker and I can’t get hold of any Old English books via libraries or bookshops. Thanks for your help!
No, I don’t mean liar, I mean storyteller and of course I mean Anglo-Saxon esp. West Saxon dialect. I’m looking for the words tale or story and spinner or weaver. And no, Modern German can’t help me this time. I had a class in History of the English Language so I know what I’m talking about but we didn’t learn much words and my profs are just not interested so I can’t ask them. Take it seriously. I’m asking for help not stupid suggestions!
