Lunerousse asked:

Since my last visit, a few of my favourite bookshops in London have closed down. Are there any stand-out independents left?

Where can I find local literary magazines?

Posted by: lobo   in Books & Authors

onetime asked:

Where would they usually be distributed?

I saw two in our biggest bookshop but I know there are a lot more out there.

I am not looking for their websites, but the actual places where they are usually left for the public to take.

No Name asked:

Do publishers have to pay bookshops for authors to do signings there, or is it all free to help the shop get more customers?

Jason V asked:

I saw it in a second hand bookshop & stupidly didnt pick it up, now I cant find it & cant find any results on the net. Anybody heard of it or know the author?

Lisa Preece asked:

I feel like I’m getting a bit old for some of my Young Adult books I find on the shelf and I want to start trying some adult books, but I don’t really know where to begin.

In bookshops and libraries the adult section is always ten times bigger than the young adult section, so does anyone recommend any good authors that a teen might be interested in?

My favourite genres are romance, adventure and thriller, but I’m open to just about everything.

Thank you!

Buying books from bookshops?

Posted by: lobo   in Books & Authors

MICHAEL P asked:

Yes of course we all do but don’t bookshops price themselves out of the market at prices that don’t make sense anymore? We saw a gem of a book yesterday in Waterstones (UK) cover priced at £20. So we went home and sourced the same book for £12.50 on Amazon, brand new, free delivery. So why don’t traditional bookstores discount all cover prices? I am sure sales would soar if books were not priced to scare people off …….. your thoughts please?

Greywolf asked:

I’m English, but I speak and write Swedish. I would like to read Stieg Larsson and Jens Lapidus books in Swedish, but I live in England - those books are impossible to find in the bookshops (except translated, which I don’t want). So where can I buy them and have them sent to me?
Abebooks had only one of the three Stieg Larsson books. CDON only handles music (as the name implies). More suggestions please!
